Quiz Team to participate in Northmont Tournament

This Saturday the St. X Quiz Team will participate in the NACT competition at Northmont High School, up near Dayton.

If you’re a long-time reader of this blog (all two of you, I know, I know…), you’ll recall that I am generally dissatisfied with the Northmont tournament because of its poor planning. As I recall, last year’s competition started two hours late. I’m probably bringing a sleeping bag this time…

This year, the main organizer hasn’t even bothered to update the tournament’s webpage. It’s not that hard: just change the date, since the (non-existent) directions and false advertising should probably stay the same.

Anyhow, if you’re interested in attending, you should probably contact Mr. Weisbrod (our assistant moderator) about it. Which brings us to the next point…

Because Mr. Weisbrod has to attend an important conference upstate this Saturday, Mr. Hussong was originally intending to supervise the Varsity team and have Mr. Lim go with the Junior Varsity, as with last year.

Unfortunately, Mr. Hussong has some health problems to attend to. We’re not aware of the details yet; Mrs. Hussong didn’t want any rumors spreading, so Mr. Weisbrod couldn’t tell us what’s going on. All we know is that he probably won’t be back to school this week, and probably not for awhile longer. I ask that you keep the Hussongs in your prayers.

We’re assuming that Mr. Seifried – Bret’s father, who usually comes to our matches anyways – will be attending one of our teams’ matches.

We’re also trying to work out who will be on the roster for Saturday. Originally, we had Melson, Barber, Seifried, and Kiger for Varsity; and Kelly, Breyer, Lee, and Lim for JV. Because one or two of them cannot attend, we’re going to need substitutes.

By tomorrow, we’ll need to have that issue solved, and we’ll also need to establish rides for everyone interested in coming. Again, if you’d like to come and support the team, please contact Mr. Weisbrod, hopefully tomorrow, so that we can work everything out.
