Quiz Team triumphs at Fall Tournament

| No Comments | 3 TrackBacks | Edit

Yesterday the St. X Quiz Team competed in the GCAL Fall Tournament at Cincinnati State. We were Team 15 in Division 2.

  • I wasn’t able to attend the first match, but I do know that the team won there. I will try to get information about this match soon.
  • The team won 49–30 against St. Ursula. I helped out during the lightning rounds, answering the following question correctly:

    These tonsil-like tissues are found—

Thus we emerged champions of the division.

  • The team next had a “bye” (nothing-to-do) round. We decided to play a scrimage against another team with a bye.

Our team won. I answered a couple more questions correctly, including this one:

Kenner, Metarie, Gretna. These are all suburbs of what—

A couple other questions are worth mentioning:

Superbowl XII was the first game played in this aptly-named dome stadium.

I was just a little irked that no one could answer this one, and that I had to sit out that round and watch with frustration.

What country is the airline KLM from?

I always thought it was based in Denmark. So I got it wrong. Oh well.

What university in Yellow Springs, Ohio, was named after a city in modern-day Turkey?

  • The team next took on Purcell Marian, from Division 1. We defeated them 47–30. I didn’t participate in this round.
  • We emerged district champions after defeated Ursuline 50-39.

As I have for three years, I will continue to regularly report Quiz Team results this year.
