Tonight I installed Windows XP, Service Pack 2, Release Candidate 2 on my computer. It’s beta-quality software still, but Microsoft is promising that this service pack will provide a lot more security than the first.
Today’s Ask Asa installment, on security:

- Well […] I really can’t say with any certainty, but I will say that talking a lot about security doesn’t actually make things more secure. People who are satisfied with that now will one day probably come to regret not asking for more than just talk.
Ben Franklin on security:
Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.
[Update] I upgraded to the final release of SP2, if anyone cares.

Last-minute changes
Microsoft’s new 80 MiB service pack for Windows (which I downloaded some time ago) is alright, but there have been a few glitches.
