On security

Tonight I installed Windows XP, Service Pack 2, Release Candidate 2 on my computer. It’s beta-quality software still, but Microsoft is promising that this service pack will provide a lot more security than the first.

Today’s Ask Asa installment, on security:

Which is worse, voting Republican (US) or using Internet Explorer?
Well […] I really can’t say with any certainty, but I will say that talking a lot about security doesn’t actually make things more secure. People who are satisfied with that now will one day probably come to regret not asking for more than just talk.
