XHTML 2.0

Well, well, well. The W3C XHTML WG has finally released the first (and very incomplete) WD for XHTML 2.0. This version has some new features, such as:

• The new section and h tags, to replace the h1-h6 heading tags.
• The new line tag, to replace the br tag, depreciated in this version of XHTML.
• The new quote tag, to replace the q tag.
• The new nl element, for navigation lists.
• The new name element, for giving titles to navigation lists.
• References to a secret, as-of-yet-unpublished language called XFrames.
• Redefinitions of some older elements, such as p.

This version of XHTML is not compatible with previous versions, or with HTML.
