I’m proud to announce that I finally found the time to upgrade this website to Movable Type 3.0 Developer Edition. Despite the great new features, though, I am disappointed by a few things.
Although the new interface (which you, my humble reader, will likely never see) makes several things a lot easier, it also looks horrendous: almost amateur. There’s just not quite as much attention to detail as there was in the previous design.
Also, I’m diappointed that Six Apart, the creators of Movable Type, just don’t seem to be quite as community-focused as they used to be before becoming Six Apart LLC (they were simply Ben and Mena Trott). Don’t let the .org in Movable Type’s URL fool you – they’re a lot more commercial than they used to be.
Plus, they hardly ever update the Six Log, their corporate weblog. How much of a differences does that make? Probably not much. But it certainly doesn’t get me as excited about Movable Type as I used to get – I’ve been looking at WordPress, after all.
How long will it be before I make the switch to WordPress? We’ll see. But I’m not exactly thrilled about this new release.
Boy, I began on a really high note, and ended on a really low one…
