This afternoon, the St. X Quiz Team played McAuley on the Varsity and Junior Varsity levels. In our usual style, we chose to have ourselves identified as Team B.

  • The Varsity team pummelled McAuley’s 82–76. I played the entire game (!), probably because Larry Stosman was absent, and answered the last question (not verbatim) correctly:

  • The Junior Varsity team also pummelled McAuley’s, 71–27. I, the timer, was quite frustrated during this round, because there were several questions involving computers. One of them asked (not nearly verbatim):

This person believed that … could be computed by machine. He developed a computer system that used a tape to record information. Who is this person?

    (Answer)

Both teams got that question wrong. Our team got this question correct (almost verbatim):

What computer, which calculated trajectory paths, was developed for the US Military?

    (Answer)

    Thanks, Seifried.

We play Moeller next Tuesday. You had better be there.
