Microsoft’s new Avalon application toolkit encourages “developers” — amateur developers — to create programs that are so flashy, so colorful, and so “kewl!” that no one can use it for everyday purposes. Once Windows Longhorn becomes widely adopted, I wouldn’t be surprised if nearly all Windows programs wind up in the Interface Hall of Shame! Ick!
