Angry fruit salad

What is a desktop application? An application that you can use from day to day. Microsoft’s new Avalon application toolkit encourages “developers” — amateur developers — to create programs that are so flashy, so colorful, and so “kewl!” that no one can use it for everyday purposes. Once Windows Longhorn becomes widely adopted, I wouldn’t be surprised if nearly all Windows programs wind up in the Interface Hall of Shame! Ick!

This is what real software developers call “angry fruit salad.”

Apple, on the other hand, pays attention not only to user interface considerations, but also to Human Interface considerations. As Apple used to advertise, know about Apple at ten in the morning, use Apple by noon.

I want a Mac.
